The story of Coastal Comfort and Townley Refrigeration is one built on craftsmanship, integrity, and nearly seven decades of keeping the Texas Gulf Coast comfortable.
Founded in 1954 by Steve Townley, Townley Refrigeration quickly became a trusted name in commercial refrigeration and HVAC service across Galveston County. Known for his hands-on approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality, Steve built Townley into one of the oldest authorized Trane dealers in Texas serving restaurants, retailers, and homeowners alike.
After more than 70 years of keeping Galveston cool (and climbing through more than his fair share of attics), Steve decided it was time to pass the torch. In July 2025, Townley Refrigeration officially merged with Coastal Comfort, combining two respected local brands into one powerhouse of HVAC and refrigeration expertise.
While stepping back from day-to-day field work, Steve continues to stay involved in the business by sharing his decades of experience, mentoring younger technicians, and helping guide the next generation of Coastal Comfort and Townley team members.

The merger brought together Townley’s long-standing commercial refrigeration and HVAC experience with Coastal Comfort’s modern systems, technology, and service-driven culture.
